IATA-CR82 DOG CRATES

International Airline Transportation Association rule 82 (IATA-CR82) requires that specific breeds of dogs are only permitted to be transported in reinforced kennels with mesh rod panel cover on door.  East Coast Crates anodized aluminum dog crates are fully airline compliant and the preferred recommended brand. For more info see our shipping dogs page.

Measure your dog

  • The size of the kennel needed to meet airline requirements for shipping can vary by airline carrier and It is based on the height and length of your dog.

  • The airlines usually require 2" clearance above the top of the dogs head for domestic travel and 3" clearance for international travel.  

  • The height of the dog is measured with the dog standing in a neutral position from the floor to the top of the dogs head including ears.

  • The length of the dog is measured from the tip of the nose to the base (beginning) of the tail
